Discrimination in its various forms still sadly occurs all too regularly in football, but is often swept under the carpet - the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) network is determined to ensure it’s stamped out altogether.
FARE Action Week (October 16-28) will see football fans all over Europe say no to racism and discrimination in the game, while in Britain, Kick It Out are co-ordinating actions.
The FSF has always promoted diversity and the inclusiveness of our game as well a proactively opposing racist behaviour and all other forms of discrimination in football, whether originating from players or from fellow supporters. For years, we’ve been involved on the committees of anti-racist campaigning organisations such as Kick it Out and Show Racism the Red Card, as well as on other national working groups on diversity issues.
So the FSF hopes members will get involved in this year’s FARE Action Week, and is offering financial support to those wishing to produce campaign materials or organise anti-racism events during the event. Likewise, any FSF members needing support with planning actions should also get in touch. Simply click here to download the guidelines for FSF action grant applications.
FARE also offer financial assistance for football fan groups organising local activities and groups can apply for financial assistance at www.farenet.org or via the website of their UK partner www.kickitout.org.
Simply ignoring racism and discrimination means accepting it – so support FARE Action Week!
